TIGER PRAWNS
The Tiger Prawn (Penaeus monodon) is a fast-growing tropical to subtropical species suited to warm, brackish waters. Hoi Huat uses purpose-built earthen ponds, constructed on coastal lands for the intensive culture. Sustainable and clean coastal resource has ensured our successful farming of the prawns, as we abide fully to the Malaysian laws to ensure a high standard. These prawns are normally harvested early in the year (up to May), and popularly sold on the domestic market.
PACIFIC WHITE SHRIMP
The Pacific White Shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), also known as Whiteleg Shrimp or King Prawn, is native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, and is commonly farmed for food since year 1970’s. It is also suited to brackish waters especially inland saline areas or estuaries as principle habitats. The Pacific White Shrimp is one of the most common and popular types of seafood consumed worldwide due to their nutritional and health values as they are low in fat, high in protein and a moderate source of omega-3 fatty acids.
